Youth Metal Health Awareness Day
Students in Years 11, 12 & 13 recently attended a Mental Health Awareness Day organised by our Trust, TKAT.
The ‘Mental Health Aware’ course is an introductory course to raise awareness of mental health. It is designed to give students a basic understanding of mental health and some common issues, as well as an introduction into looking after your own mental health.
Rachel Ward, TKAT Director of Wellbeing and a MHFA England instructor, led the course at CPS for a number of year 11s 12s and 13s who expressed an interest in mental health and wellbeing. Some of these students have now become mental health mentors for the younger years.
Some feedback from our students:
"I had a wonderful experience. This course was very informative and emotional. Not only did I get help understanding how to help others but it was also interesting to see how I could help myself with my personal problems. I really enjoyed learning about mental health in my age group and understanding how real the statistics are. If anything this course has inspired me to help younger people even more."
"It was something very interesting and really can help others who are suffering from mental health issues."
"The course is very interesting and great value would highly recommend. I would really like to attend a 2-day course to learn more."
"I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to improve their knowledge of mental health issues."
