Ofsted Monitoring Report

23 June 2023
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you will recall, in November 2021 we were inspected by Ofsted and received a Requires Improvement judgement. I am sure you will agree that since that time, we have made enormous progress with moving the school forward to provide a consistently strong education every day for our children. We have seen a rise in exam outcomes and the culture around the school is one of focused learning.
As part of the scheduled Ofsted process, they returned to us on 4th May this year. I am delighted that they saw the progress that we have made and have today published a monitoring report that we are immensely proud of. The monitoring visit was a checking opportunity for Ofsted and was not an opportunity to change the grading, but I am sure that when you read the report you will see the strong foundations are now firmly in place for when they return to re-grade us.
The full monitoring report is available here on our website but I would just like to draw your attention to some key points:
- “...pupils are more engaged in lessons and there has been a marked improvement in behaviour”
- “They are not ‘quick fixes’ and have led to a positive change in professional culture”
- “Numbers in the sixth form are increasing and students speak highly of their teachers”
Overall we are really pleased with the report and look forward to welcoming them back within the year for a graded inspection.
I hope you will join me in thanking the staff at the school for their hard work and commitment to raising standards at Cleeve Park. The students have risen to the challenge and as parents your support is always appreciated.
Yours sincerely
Alex O’Donnell
