May Half Term Letter from the Executive Head Teacher

Cleeve Park Final

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you and your family are safe and well.

As week 9 of lockdown draws to a close, I wanted to write to wish you all a very happy and safe half term holiday. We will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday but open as usual for our vulnerable and key worker students from Tuesday to Friday.

This half term has been extremely busy getting our online learning platform up and running.  We are very grateful for your patience while we adapted our practice to deliver online learning activities.  I am delighted to report we have seen a huge increase in the number of students now regularly accessing online learning.  Over half term and the following weeks we are looking to make further improvements to this - keep an eye out for updates in our fortnightly newsletters.

Over the past few weeks our class teachers, Heads of Department and senior leaders have spent a great deal of time discussing and preparing to send off our Centre Assessed Grades for Year 11 and Year 13 students. We will be sending details of how Year 11 and 13 results days will run over the next half term, as well as 6th form enrolment and UCAS support.

Many of you will be aware of the Government announcement requesting schools to consider running some 'face to face' sessions with Year 10 and Year 12 students after half term.  I have written to parents of Year 10 and 12 students but would like to reassure you all that I have the safety of our students and staff at the heart of any decision I make regarding the reopening of our school.  It is also important for parents of key worker and vulnerable children to know that any face to face sessions with Year 10 and 12 students will be kept separate to those with key worker/vulnerable students.

During the half term holiday we do not expect students to continue with their online learning - we know they need a rest and I am sure you do too!  Our staff will resume online learning on June 1st.

Enjoy the bank holiday weekend and half term holiday

Stay safe
